From Rock Bottom to Rock of Ages

We’ve all had moments where life knocks us down so hard that it feels impossible to get back up. The weight of struggles, disappointments, and fears can press in until we feel like we’ve hit rock bottom. But here’s the beautiful truth: even at rock bottom, we are never alone. Jesus is right there with us.

When we’re at the lowest point, that’s where His presence becomes the most powerful. Psalm 34:18 reminds us: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” You may feel stuck, but God sees you exactly where you are, and He’s not leaving you there.

The mistake we often make is leaning on our own understanding, trying to climb out of the pit with our own strength, our own plans, our own timing. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

When we stop striving in our own way and start listening for His guidance, He becomes the hand that pulls us upward. Rock bottom then becomes the firm foundation where God begins to build us stronger. He takes us step by step, from the valley floor to the mountaintop, if we’ll simply place our trust in Him.

So if you feel like you’re surrounded by darkness, remember: Jesus is the light shining at the bottom of your valley. He is your hope, your guide, your strength. Don’t give up. Don’t lose faith. Rock bottom is not the end, it’s where your testimony begins.

Let today be the day you stop trusting in your own way and start moving forward in faith. God can and will lift you out. And when He does, you’ll look back and see that even in the hardest moments, He was carrying you to higher ground.
